CHARACTERS from favourite books came to life at Park Lane School in Whittlesey when pupils celebrated Book Week.

After taking to the catwalk to show off their costumes they took part in a variety of book related activities including quizzes, story writing and puppet shows.

There was a visit from local author Victor Watson who read extracts from his book which is set in Ely during the Second World War.

Highlight of the day was a performance by staff during which pupils enjoyed seeing them dressed up as detectives including the gang from Scooby Doo, to solve a crime which had been committed in the school.
