A multicultural music workshop has given pupils at Wisbech Grammar School’s preparatory school a chance to try their hand at a string of exotic instruments.
During a visit by world music specialists ‘Earthsong’ the pupils at Magdalene House Preparatory School enjoyed a melodic jaunt across the continents, getting hands on experience of djembe goblet drums and kora harps from West Africa, as well as Indian sitars and Chinese harps.
Director of music Marie Cunningham said: “The pupils listened to traditional stories and songs from many different cultures, and we even started the Chinese new year celebrations early with a dragon dance, which was great fun for all of us.”
