Railings put up on March riverside
RAILINGS along March's riverside have been installed to commemorate the The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
March Town Council decided to spend £22,000 on the railings because it would be a long-term investment.
The area along Elwyn Road has long needed railings, Town Council clerk Clive Lemmon said, because it has simply had wire separating the main road from the river bank.
However this year’s landmark anniversary provided the perfect opportunity to replace the railings.
At the official handover of the railings to Cambridgeshire County Council, Fenland District and County Councillor John Clark said: “Knowing how to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a difficult choice.
“However I think that March Town Council made a good contribution to the town by erecting these railings.
“They will mark the Jubilee for many years to come and enhance one of the assets of the town.”
