FORMER professional footballer Neil Ruddock will be helping a Fenland football club realise its "Field of Dreams" when he speaks at a sportsman's dinner.

Mr Ruddock, who played at Liverpool and West Ham, will be the principal guest at Whittlesey Junior Football Club's dinner on October 19.

About £100,000 is needed to build seven new football pitches in Stonald Road and the club hopes the dinner will add about £5,000 to the more than £25,000 its has raised so far for the project.

Tickets for the dinner, at the Fleet Centre, Old Fletton, Peterborough, cost £35 each or £400 for a table of 12. Tickets can be booked by calling 07876 490861 or 07717 744029.
