PEDAL power raised hundreds of pounds for Red Nose Day when workers at a Chatteris firm took part in a marathon cycling challenge.
A team of staff from environmentally friendly lighting firm, TP24 ,took to exercise bikes to pedal 426 miles in less than seven hours.
Their efforts raised nearly £1000 for Comic Relief.
The cycle ride was the equivalent of pedalling to Underhill House in Gateshead, the home of lightbulb inventor Joseph Swann, which the firm said was a fitting destination for their modern low energy lightbulb firm.
Louise Smith, senior account manager, said: “The original incandescent lightbulb was created by Mr Swann in 1886 and we thought it would be a bit of fun to cycle the equivalent amount of miles to that destination in 2013 while raising money for a good cause.”
Today Underhill house is a sheltered housing scheme and as part of the Comic Relief charity package TP24 donated low energy bulbs for residents who live there.
A team of fourteen staff took part in the challenge on four exercise bikes donated by Health Clubs at Home, Whittlesey and raised the money thanks to sponsorship from family, friends and customers.
