A WOMAN suffered a head injury when her car left a Fenland road and ended balancing on its chassis over the edge of a 5ft deep ditch.
Emergency crews, including Magpas Helimedix, were called shortly at about 9.15am to Byall Fen Drove, Manea. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was trapped in the car.
A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters stabilised the vehicle and then removed the roof using cutting equipment to release the casualty.”
A Magpas spokesman said: “The Magpas team worked alongside an ambulance crew to assess the patient, who suffered a head injury and neck pain. The Helimedix then worked alongside two fire and rescue crews, together with the ambulance crew, to remove the woman safely out of the car.
“The patient was taken to Peterborough City Hospital in a land ambulance, where on arrival she was in a stable condition.”
The Magpas Helimedix team was Dr Nick Foster and paramedics Phil Almond and Simon Standen. The helicopter team was pilot Richard Eastwood and air observer Steve Hunwicks.
No other vehicle was involved in the collision.
Fire crews from March, Chatteris and Huntingdon were mobilised. All had returned to their stations by noon.
