LIONS who braved the snow and ice to delight residents with their Christmas float raised a whopping 2,920.

The Lions from the Whittlesey club roped in friends to help with door to door collections around the town and in the villages of Eastrea and Coates.

Money raised from the float will stay in the community and some has already been used to help an elderly resident. The Lions gave 250 to the homeowner whose central heating oil was stolen just before Christmas.

Lion president Steve Palmer said: “Being able to help a good cause like this shows how local people can help others who are in need. I would like to thank all the generous residents who dug deep and put a donation in one of our collection tins.”
