RESIDENTS of Heron House, March, can look forward to a brighter future following completion of major improvements.
The residential home in The Avenue has also benefited from a sponsored cycle ride from five care staff from the dementia unit, who took part in a 50-mile cycle ride to Peterborough and back.
Staff organised the ride to raise funds for the home's EMI (elderly mentally ill) garden which they hope to enhance with sensory equipment and additional seating.
Manager Sue Ward said she was delighted by her team's efforts. She expects they will have raised £300 by their efforts.
Dennis and Penny Hicks of the nearby cycle shop Bike Care supplied tyres, inner tubes and tyre levers in case of emergencies.
"All being well they will cycle to Newmarket next year," added Mrs Ward. "There were no offers, however, when I suggested a parachute jump.
