OPPORTUNITIES came knocking for people with learning disabilities, their parents, carers and friends at the Opportunities Roadshow.
The aim of was to recognise and celebrate the achievements of people with learning disabilities in Fenland and to see the range of activities on offer.
FACET (Fenland Area Community Enterprise Trust), Fenland Mencap and Fendis (Fenland Disability Sports Forum), got together to hold the highly successful event at the FACET premises in Marwick Road, March.
The roadshow was opened by Mayor of March, Councillor Jan French, and was supported by Cambridgeshire County Council.
Organisers said the show provided a unique showcase of opportunities available to people with learning disabilities
It has also provided a marvellous opportunity for people to see what they could achieve by becoming volunteers and how they can change people's lives.
There were workshops in art, pyrography, sweet making, making decorative plant pots and face painting.
Displays included photography from the Rdigipix project. The project for Mencap members gave people with special learning needs opportunities to have hands-on artistic experience.
Carers Support had its own stand along with Tennyson Lodge, Victoria Lodge, Scaldgate Club, PHAB Club, FENDIS and Fenland Mencap & Befrienders.
