ANDREW Ingram, formerly of Wisbech but now living in Runcton Holme, was guest speaker at Monday's Rotary Club meeting. His subject was Wisbech Tram and Canal, and during his talk he traced, with the aid of a visual presentation, the history of the Wisbech canal the route of which is now a dual carriageway. Second part of his talk related to the development and demise of the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway which closed in 1966. The tramway was inspiration for some of the Thomas the Tank Engine series of books written by the Rev Wilbert Audry while vicar of Emneth.
