THE Royal British Legion's June meeting in the Working Men's Club was opened by president Charles Constable, standing in for chairman Norman Larke.

Speaker was Fred Payne, a member of the Legion and most of the other clubs in the town. Fred has a love of photography, and it is due to him and his generosity that many events in the town get publicity. In the late 1950s Fred became involved with animation and by 1961 he had made a few short films, one of such, entitled Milk Bottle Madness won first prize at the Aylesbury Amateur Film Society. In recent years Fred had the urge to try digital cameras, and has now made a few more films around the area. The Legion enjoyed the animation films from 45 years ago; those were followed by a recent film of the 2005 Chatteris Armistice Sunday Parade Service.
