AT the latest meeting of the March branch of the Royal Naval Association, at the Conservative Club, chairman Bill Barry welcomed new members Carole Dunthorne, ex RN, and John Gowing. The branch was joined for the evening by Malcolm and Margaret Pike, both ex RN, on a visit from Bexhill on Sea. Members were also told that branch president George Brewin had been taken to Peterborough District Hospital with a suspected stroke. Secretary Ted Rasell reported on motions being put forward at the national conference, and it was agreed to leave voting on these matters to his judgement. Maureen Campbell gave the treasurer's report which showed the branch to be in a healthy fiscal situation.

Social secretary Bill Campbell reported on the successful events throughout the year and the ongoing programme, which included a garden party on May 5 at the home of branch chaplain, the Rev Anthony Chandler, and a visit to Eden Camp on Saturday May 12.

Next meeting: Thursday May 10 (8pm).
