A NEW X-ray unit for the Fenland RSPCA centre came a step nearer reality at the weekend when staff were presented with a cheque for £1,800.
The cheque was handed over during a presentation at the Old Mill, Upwell, on Sunday.
Money has been raised by those who attend the weekly country music concerts at the Upwell venue.
A charity afternoon and an auction raised £1,000 and a further £800 was added when William Hewitt, of Friday Bridge, did a sponsored sky dive.
Vanessa Gautry from the animal centre was there to receive the cheque which will go towards the £10,000 needed for installation of the new X-ray unit.
Organisers Jenny and Clarence Lakey said they were overwhelmed by the amount raised and expressed their gratitude to everyone who had donated money.
