SAFE cyclists from a Fenland primary school have been awarded certificates from police officers for their cycling standards.

Pc Lisa Marston, Community Beat Manager for Chatteris, and Michelle Bax, Police Community Support Officer, visited Glebelands School, Chatteris, to present Year 6 pupils with safer cycling certificates.

About 40 pupils at the school learned about safe cycling on Fenland roads, from the importance of cycling helmets to the basics of dealing with traffic on a course in November.

PCSO Bax said: "The students are now more confident on the roads and more aware of their surroundings.

"But I can't stress enough how important it is to have lights on bikes and for cyclists not to ride on the pavements."

Information is available at the school for adults who would like to be volunteer and teach the safe cycling course.
