SCOUTS from 2nd March joined other scouts from Wisbech and March in a day of traditional activities for the culmination of a patrol leaders' training course at Spalding on Saturday.

They learned and practised diverse skills including fire lighting, cooking without utensils, making an oven out of mud, building various structures and building and sailing coracles.

The skills learned will be taken back to their respective troops to share with the other scouts.

Cambridgeshire County Commissioner Richard Hames visited and mixed with the scouts and later talked about the opportunities within scouting and the famous people who started their careers from a skill learned at scouts.

Scouting is mixed and is attracting girls in large numbers so if any girls or boys aged six to 18 are interested, please phone Fran on 01354 650630, or text Graham on 07752 265579 for more details.

Scout organisers want any adults who would like to join and help young people to get in touch.
