This second consultation, which will continue until July 12, follows an initial review and public consultation held earlier this year.

The key recommendations are that the parish boundary between Chatteris and Manea be amended to follow the new 2015 district ward boundary and the new parish wards in Chatteris and Whittlesey be amended to reflect the new district ward boundaries across the two towns.

The number of parish councillors representing all three places would remain the same – 14 for Whittlesey, 12 for Chatteris and nine for Manea.

After this second consultation has been completed, final recommendations will be submitted to a full meeting of Fenland District Council on July 24.

The proposed changes follow a “community governance review” carried out to see what changes may be needed to ensure parish boundaries truly reflect the identities and interests of local people and are effective and convenient for them.

The overall aim is to strengthen local democracy and encourage more community engagement.

Any changes need to be approved by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.

The new arrangements will come into force at the next all-out parish council elections in May 2015.
