POLICE officers and detectives scoured Wisbech Park on Saturday following a serious sexual assault on a woman.

The victim, a young woman, was walking through the park in Lynn Road at around 2am on Saturday when she was grabbed by a man who sexually assaulted her.

The victim was left shocked and distressed by the incident and police attended the scene before a search was carried out. A team of officers carried out further searches in the park later in the day.

Det Insp Lorraine Parker said: “This was a traumatic experience for the victim and I am keen to find out who carried out this attack as soon as possible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area to consider whether or not they saw anything suspicious in the early hours of Saturday.

“We are particularly interested in anyone who was there between 1.45am and 2am. Any information could be very important to this inquiry.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Insp Parker on 0345 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
