New recruits to the Wisbech and March Bramley Line joined after supporters visited a military vehicle display at Denver, near Downham Market.

Brian Baylis, chairman, said: "Sadly, there were not too many visitors, but this did not deter the 'roadshow' team from getting a number of new members to join.

"There were some visitors who would have liked to have joined, but because they live too far away to help, they made donations to the appeal to help raise the money for lease and legal advice."

The aim of the Bramley Line committee is to re-open the rail link between Wisbech and March, which was closed to passenger traffic in 1968.

My Baylis said: "We are determined to get trains running along this line again as soon as possible. As well as many local members, we have members in Sussex and even a family in Falkirk, Scotland."

Recently Mr Baylis gave two talks to other groups in Chatteris and March about the Bramley Line and both made donations to the appeal.

Mr Baylis said any group interested in receiving a talk about the line should call 01354 651188, 07874-121-211, or e-mail peter@bramleyline.org.uk
