YOUNGSTERS in Christchurch celebrated on Saturday at the official opening of the village skate park.
They were joined by North East Cambs MP Stephen Barclay, parish councillors and representatives of organisations which helped fund the work.
The project was the idea of 15-year-old Daniel Rushton and his friends who were fed up with having to skate board on village roads and paths. They were even helped in their campaign by the villagers who had told them off for causing a nuisance outside their homes.
The parish council took up their requests for a skate park and the new facilities at the recreation ground are being well used.
