POLICE, the fire service and council officers were seen to be clean around March on Saturday, with an environmental action day.

Two events took place as part of the day, organised by Fenland District Council under its 'Be Seen To Be Clean' campaign, in which the Cambs Times is a partner.

Volunteers congregated at March Library for a litter pick, organised by the library in partnership with the council.

Information stalls were also set up on Mill View car park, next to Sainsbury's supermarket, with details on litter and recycling, environmental services, smoke-free Fenland and environmental protection.

A fire engine, street cleansing vehicle and mobile police station were also on site and environmental freebies, such as reusable shopping bags, were handed to visitors.
