SOHAM fundraiser Callum Fairhurst will be among a select few who meet with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they pay their first joint visit to Cambridge next week.
The Soham Village College pupil, 15, will be introduced to the Royal couple at the city’s Guildhall along with mayor of Cambridge Sheila Stuart and Penny Walkinshaw, High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire.
Callum has raised more than �70,000 for charity in the last two years and, earlier this year, set up the Liam Fairhurst Foundation in memory of his brother who died in 2009.
After their wedding, the Queen awarded the title bearing the city’s name to Prince William and Kate and residents have since eagerly anticipated the couple’s first visit to the city.
Clarence House issued a statement last week confirming that November 28 “will mark the royal couple’s first official joint visit to Cambridgeshire as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge”.
The couple will undertake a series of engagements including visiting the city’s Guildhall and the Senate House, University of Cambridge, where they will attend a reception for about 400 people.
They will also be given a tour of Jimmy’s resettlement centre; watch a drama, music and dance presentation at The Manor School; and visit Peterborough City Hospital.
