Southery man killed on the A10 at Chittering - Huntingdon man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

Police have named a man who died in a collision on the A10 outside Travellers Rest at Chittering on Wednesday afternoon.

Phillip Beeton, 50, of Feltwell Road, Southery, died when the blue Citroen Relay van he was driving was involved in a collision with a tipper lorry. A male passenger from the van remains in a critical condition at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.

A 58-year-old man from Huntingdon was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail until December 9.

Police are keen to speak to the owner of a silver Volkswagen Bora saloon who may have witnessed the collision.

Police, ambulance and the fire service were all present at the scene.
