Fabiola Gil Marin, 20, has joined fresh produce company, ERMS (UK) at Chatteris on a short-term placement from the University of Murcia, Spain.
Fabiola, who is doing an English Studies degree, is spending three months with ERMS to gain work experience, improve her English and to learn about the fresh produce industry. Her degree incorporates learning English to a high standard, qualifying her to teach English in Spain.
Martyn Smith, head of commercial, said: “Fabiola’s father, Antonio Gil Hernandez, owns a Spanish transport company, Javali Nuevo, specialising in temperature controlled transport of fresh produce. Citrus from our long-standing growers in Murcia and Valencia is delivered by his company so we are delighted to welcome Fabiola to the team.”
As well as improving her English, Fabiola will also learn the processes involved in fresh produce procurement, quality control, storage and packing to customers’ high-quality requirements.
“I am really enjoying learning about the company and the industry,” says Fabiola. “I have worked with my father, too, so have an understanding of the care that’s needed to bring soft products to the market.”
ERMS (UK) has been procuring and packing high quality fruit and vegetables for supermarkets, wholesalers and caterers throughout the UK since 1986 and is a highly regarded fresh produce company.
