History came to life in Wisbech with a re enactment of the days of the elite fighting force, the Knights Templar.
The battle raged on a field next to the Begdale roundabout as part of a charity weekend event.
Taking part were history re-enactment group, the Spectacular Knights of the Crusaders, who played out a scripted battle with music and thrilling fights scenes.
Coleen Ellis, who set up the re-enactment group with her husband Michael in 1978, said: “The group gave up their attendance fee to join the event which was raising money for The Irish Wolfhound Charitable Trust.
“The battle involved the legend of the tale of Richard the Lionheart,
“The knights encourage audience participation and boys in the audience are invited to join them to become squires as part of the show.”
Crowds were a lot lower than organisers hoped owing to the stifling heat at the weekend. It also meant the dog show entries were low as it was too hot to bring animals out for the day.
