It was Yummy Mummy time for some March mums who helped to raise funds for children with cancer.

The event was at St John's Church hall on Wednesday during the Jon's Tots session.

As the children played, mums could indulge in a facial, makeover or massage, or sample and buy a range of Virgin Vie, Body Shop and Likisma products.

Organiser Hannah Orbell was delighted with the response to the event which raised more than £116. Nationally it is hoped Yummy Mummy Week will raise more than £400,000 for the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

Hannah has a special reason for choosing to support the charity. She has friends who have a son with a rare form of leukaemia.

Hendrix Martin was diagnosed with the illness in April 2004 when he was just 15 months old. A bone marrow donor was found, without whom Hendrix was given just eight months to live.

His father Bob, grew up in March and attended Neale-Wade Community College. Hendrix was baptised at St Mary's Church in the town although the family now live in Clacton.

The boy's parents said: "The future for Hendrix is uncertain but with his progress so far he appears to be doing very well.
