Club chairman Philip Hammerton welcomed members old and new and introduced guests John Heading and his wife Liz. Mr Heading spoke of the commitment of members to the club and his admiration for all the work carried out before conducting the opening ceremony and bowling the first wood.

After the first outdoor game of the season members finished the afternoon with a sausage and mash meal.

- The club will hold a fund-raising cake stall next Friday outside the one-stop shop in the High Street.
