A SPONSORED music day at the church on Saturday was organised by Pauline and Graham Beeken. The musicians and vocalists were allocated half hour slots starting from 10am through until 6.15pm. The musicians were from various churches around Wisbech and district, and the music was varied. Coffee and sausage rolls were served by Bridget Fox and lunches organised by Joy Smalley and prepared by Joan Thompson, Jean Dowe, Penny Waldock and then served by Sue Dack, George Bettinson, Colin Thompson and Elaine Middleton. Betty Harrison, Mavis Fox and Shirley and Hayley Smith were in charge of the cake and bring and buy stalls. During the afternoon cream teas were prepared and served by Sue Askew and Tilly Tilbrook. In the evening a convert was given by Cantabile under the leadership of Pat Presling. This was followed by an epilogue with the Rev Den Hague, assisted by the Rev Neil Harper. An offering was taken for the work of the choir. The event raised about £1,300 for the church roof. On Sunday evening an after eight praise evening was held conducted by the Rev Hague. There were activities, songs and prayers and extracts from films shown by Powerpoint. Musicians were Joan Thompson (piano), Pauline Beeken (organ), Elaine Middleton (violin and clarinet), Roger Dack (guitar), Graham Beeken (euphonium) and Paul Bulass (drums).
