A post office is set to close next month and instead operate out of the back of a van which will be open 90 minutes a week.

St Johns Fen End Post Office will shut on June 10 following the resignation of the subpostmaster and the withdrawal of the premises from Post Office use.

On June 12, a Mobile Outreach Service will be launched which will be operated by the subpostmaster from Upwell Post Office using a vehicle outside the branch at School Lane.

But the van will only be there on Monday and Thursday from 8.45-9.30am.

Post Office field change advisor Wendy Hamilton said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in St Johns Fen End and we are confident this new Mobile Outreach service will meet the needs of the local community and safeguard Post Office services for the future.”
