ST Mary’s Church got a 1,010 boost to its restoration fund.
The Westry religious building was gutted after it was set alight by arsonists earlier this year.
The Reverend Anthony Chandler had already set up an appeal for people to give money towards its rebuild when Dunhams Wood Light Railway made its own generous contribution.
The cash was raised during two fun day events in June held by Light Railway staff.
Dunhams Wood will be open for the next two Sundays, between 2pm and 5pm, and on Bank Holiday Monday when a teddy bears’ picnic. Trains will run on all three days.
