AT their latest meeting members of St Mary's Mothers' Union had an insight into some of the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the church life ticking over, as part of their Faith in Action theme. They heard about the various vestments used in church by verger Ida Cornwell, keeping records for the PCC by secretary Margaret Scotney and the duties of churchwardens by Margaret Martin. They were thanked with gifts of chocolates by Margery Payne. Afterwards refreshments included a cake made by Joan Shepherd to celebrate MU member Jane and Ian Groome's silver wedding. A bring and buy was held for branch funds.
