PRESIDENT Renee Tuffs welcomed members to the September meeting when tickets for the harvest supper were on sale and names were taken for the annual dinner on November 17.
A card was received from Eunice Whittlesea thanking members for the fruit and cards taken round since she has been out of hospital.
Speaker was Mrs Rispin on the formation of Sandringham WI. She gave the talk as Mrs Watts, founder of the WI in Canada, who came to England to promote the WI and at a function was approached by Queen Mary to start a branch at Sandringham. She was dressed in clothes from early last century, and was surprised no one was wearing a hat. Sandringham WI started in 1919.
A vote of thanks was given by Zena Richardson. The social half hour was a word quiz with the winner Betty Smith. The next meeting on October 12 will be the harvest supper, starting at 6.30pm instead of 7pm.
