THE monthly meeting of Chatteris and District St Raphael Club at Salem Court was opened by Lillian Brooks, who welcomed Christine Tarrant, a new member.

The speaker was Sarah Graves, a trainee manager from Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre. Using a slide show, she spoke of the different birds which come from across the world to the centre, where they breed and raise their young. The slide show included pictures of the new visitors centre. She was thanked by Lillian Brooks. As a memento to a founder member of Chatteris St Raphael Club, the late Mike Graves (Sarah's grandfather), the donation to the Wetlands Centre was paid for by Sarah's parents.

While refreshments were served, names were taken for the coach trip to Lowestoft, to depart Salem Court on Saturday July 8 at 9am; with the usual pick up points. Maisie Bedford conducted the draw, which was followed by the Crazy Competition.

The next meeting will be a games evening with members from March St Raphael Club on Thursday May 25 (7pm).
