STAFF from a Cambridgeshire communications agency have been given a day off work next month so they can volunteer at a charity of their choice.

Method Creative’s ‘Christmas is for giving’ campaign will support Arthur Rank Hospice, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Bedfordshire Wildlife Trust, The Green Backyard, Blue Cross and Camsight.

Method’s founder Kirsten Corrigan feels the campaign is a great way for the business to give back after a successful 2012.

She said: “We established our annual fundraising event Wacky Races as a way of raising physical cash for charity earlier this year.

“We now want to focus on providing the personal touch and offering our time to causes close to our hearts.”

Method manager Laura Wing has been busy organising the logistics of the campaign.

She said: “The team has been busy preparing for their days out of the office.

“It’s unusual to be given the chance to give something back in a personal way through work, so everyone is really excited.”

Method employee Lorna Hopkins will spend the day learning the ropes at Blue Cross, the animal re-homing centre.

Blue Cross volunteer co-ordinator Emma Laflin said: “Having Lorna with us for the day will really help the Blue Cross in the run up to Christmas.

“So many animals come to us at this time of year so it’s vital we get plenty of volunteers in.

“We are lucky to receive generous monetary donations from the public and businesses all year round, but equally we always need an extra pair of hands to make sure the charity continues to run smoothly.”

Each team member will follow up their experience with a detailed blog post to share insight into the good work each charity does.
