THREE members of staff at top security Whitemoor Prison, March, were treated for minor injuries after being assaulted by an inmate.
The incident happened earlier this year and the Ministry of Justice confirmed the staff was treated at Peterborough Hospital.
``Violence in prison is not tolerated in any form and this incident has been referred to the police, who are investigating,” said a ministry spokesman.
The assault took place in Whitemoor’s segregation unit on Monday.
No information has been given about the prisoner who was involved.
