A FORMER steward at a March club was unfairly dismissed, a tribunal unanimously agreed.

The Royal Antedeluvian Order of Buffaloes denied the claim of unfair dismissal by Peter Lawson, during a tribunal at Bury St Edmunds.

Mr Lawson, steward at the 'Buffs' Club in Robingoodfellows Lane, was awarded compensation totalling £2,785.

That amount included four weeks' pay at £269 a week, compensation covering loss of statutory rights (notice), loss of earnings (for one month) and holiday pay totalling £1,708.73.

However, the tribunal reduced the amount which Mr Lawson will actually receive by £269.23 to take into account a payment which had already been made by his employer.
