ERNESTAS Urbonavicius had shared a bottle of vodka with friends before police saw him driving erratically in Wisbech, crossing the central white line in the road and driving at just 15mph.A plain clothes police officer spotted the Lithuanian driving a Ford Mondeo in the early hours of the morning, and when Urbonavicius stopped in a parking area the officer blocked him in.Uniformed police turned up and found Urbonavicius was so drunk he had to hold on to his car for stability, and his speech was affected, prosecutor Nicola Ebbs told Fenland magistrates. He kept repeating that he had insurance, but refused to take a roadside breath test.He was taken to a police station where, after warning, he agreed to give a breath test. His reading was 95mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35."He had drunk two beers and shared a bottle of vodka with two or three other people," said John Clarke, mitigating. "He has a sense of the law in this country because he was insured, which is unusual in these type of cases."Urbonavicius, 23, of Harry's Way, Wisbech, was banned from driving for two years and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £55 costs.
