FENLAND District Council has appointed Mick Napier as its new Streetsafe CCTV manager. Mr Napier has 10 years' experience in this field, latterly as a British Transport Police CCTV manager in London.

Mick, right, will play a key role in building on the success of the Streetsafe CCTV system, working closely with town councils and Cambridgeshire Constabulary, as well as a wide range of agencies and groups to improve the crime reduction and public safety potential of CCTV in public spaces.

For 18 years he was a conductor and revenue protection manager with British Rail in Reading and South Wales, where he was responsible for 130 staff.

He took up the role of British Transport Police CCTV manager, advising both the police and the rail industry at a national level on all aspects of CCTV.

He is a trained expert in CCTV and security lighting, security risk management and surveying, as well as with CCTV control room management.

It is with this wide range of skills that he plans to ensure that CCTV is a valuable tool in crime reduction and public safety, something that can be further enhanced by developing a strong multi-agency approach and building on public support for CCTV.
