Two Neale Wade students raised more than £100 for charity in memory of their grandmothers who died of cancer.

Jody Jean Simpson, 12, and Aimee Bannon, 11, held a cake stall, bric a brac and raffle at Skylark Garden Centre to bring in the total for Cancer Research.

Jody Jean said: “We were just talking one day about how much we missed our nans and how sad it was for them to die of cancer.

“We then said we should do something positive about it which is where the idea came from.”

The girls now plan to hold a stall at the Heron House Easter fete on Wednesday April 5 in the school holidays.

The year seven student also said a big thank you to her parents, mum Kay Payne who sorted out all of the raffle things, and to her dad, Kevin Simpson, who helped with the cakes.

Her dad will be taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing event in Peterborough later this year to raise money for Cancer Research.
