Saturday’s wet and windy weather failed to dampen the spirits of volunteers set to cleaning up St John’s Church.

Around 45 students from the Wisbech campus of the College of West Anglia spent several hours clearing the churchyard area of the Station Road as part of their National Citizen Service.

The work was carried out as part of the community big church clean-up and also as part of the students devised social action plan - giving back to the community.

The students were all part of the College of West Anglia’s National Citizen Service group.

Bob Bagshaw from St John’s Church said: “I am amazed at the turn out and all the hard work that they have done in a short amount of time and in weather conditions like this.”
