A March formal hire shop will be donating £5 to the town mayor's charity ball for every dinner suit ordered for the event.

But the move by John Hooks, pictured above, also celebrates the first birthday of his shop, yesterday (Thursday).

Mr Hooks said: "I thought it would be nice to do something to celebrate a year in business, so every time we hire a dinner suit we are going to give £5 back to the mayor.

"And it does not matter if it was ordered a week ago or two days before the event - we will still donate the money."

Orders for the suits can be made in the shop, at 98 High Street.

The mayor's charity ball takes place at the town's Braza Club on Friday, February 16.
