Summer banquet for Wisbech Grammar School sixth formers as they bowed out in style

SIXTH formers at Wisbech Grammar School dressed to impress for the annual leavers’ dinner, with summer dresses and black tie worn by the youngsters who bowed out in real style.

Serenaded by the school’s swing band, the departing students enjoyed Pimm’s on the headmaster’s lawn before tucking into a banquet prepared and served by head of food and nutrition Mrs Alison Sloan and her team of pupils drawn from every year in the school.

The talented chefs provided a starter of roasted tomatoes, followed by a buffet of cold salmon, marinated chicken and asparagus quiche, which was followed by a dessert of strawberries, lemon Eton mess and cheesecake.

Head boy Joshua York and head girl Alice Wong thanked the staff for all their efforts over the years, and headmaster Nicholas Hammond proposed toasts to the year group and the school.

Deputy head Christine Noxon said: “The farewell dinner was a real team effort and a huge success.”
