Students at a college for adults with special needs were handed a backstage pass to life as a member of staff at a March supermarket.

FACET students were invited to experience a tour of the building, helped customers with a bag pack and even got to serve customers on the checkout.

Manager Kris Harrold said: “Since we were lucky enough to be chosen as Sainsbury’s charity of the year they have been amazing to us.

“This is the third event they have put on for the students and for this we cannot thank them enough, experiencing real work place situations like they have today is a priceless learning tool for so many truly deserving people.

“The customers were all so friendly to the students and showed great generosity in their donations to us, we really are so thankful for every penny we receive.

“The customers of Sainsbury’s donated a fantastic £286.86 in just a few hours which will go towards new equipment in the centre.”

The Marwick Road college focuses on ability not disability and offers a range of training and educational courses as well as having a well-stocked nursery and garden centre that the public can visit six days a week to buy products made by the students.
