- A FORMER player/manager of March Town featured in our issue of April 21 and we asked if anyone could remember his name and the event pictured.

The man being honoured was Tommy McCulloch and the year was 1956 when members and officials of the Supporters' Club held a presentation at the Cock Inn, March.

Club chairman Maurice Last made the presentation of a fireside chair on behalf of the supporters.

Jackie Dawson (nee Hicks) contacted us to say her mother, Ida Hicks, was in the picture. Mrs Hicks was a member of the club for an incredible 50 years, having joined when her husband Cecil, was goalkeeper for March Town. The couple lived in the town's Peyton Avenue.

The woman with the hat on was Ida's sister, Emma Bunn. Her sister-in-law Elsie Baxter is also on the picture.

Jackie could also name Mary Davidson, Joyce Dunham, Lily Blackmore and Maurice Last.

At the event Mrs Hicks presented Mrs McCulloch with a bouquet and paid tribute to Tommy.

- A GOREFIELD darts team travelled to London back in 1955 to play in the finals of a national championship, we asked if anyone could name the players or remember the event.

The players were from The Woodman's Cottage A-team but were out of luck when they played in the finals of The People National Darts Team Championships in Hammersmith.

Representing the Eastern Counties, as champions of Cambridgeshire, the Woodman's Cottage lost 2-1 to the favourites, the Sussex Hotel 'Wasps' of Paddington, London.

Mr Anderson of Back Road, Gorefield, contacted us to put names to the faces on the picture. He could name, left to right, Alderman Peeling, Tom Young (landlord), Bert Howlett (secretary), Peter Brownlow, Fred Bliss, Tom Gagen, Eric Green, John Humphrey, John Turner, Gordon Anderson and Tom Hunns (captain).
