The Middle Level Watermen’s Club have voted in their new club commodore after Bill Barry stood down from holding the rank for the past six years.

Taking over at the helm is Sylvia Keane who, along with her husband Bernard, are avid boaters with a narrow boat moored in March.

A vote of thanks was proposed by the club’s PR, Mike Daines, thanking Mr Barry for his unstinting service to the club whilst in office and also to Mr Barry’s wife Lynda, who has also stood down as club secretary having held that office for the past six years.

Sylvia said: “I feel it is a privilege in being asked to stand as commodore and that people have put their trust in me.

“I would also like to add my personal thanks to Bill and Lynda for all their hard work and effort in helping to run our club these last six years. “It’s also nice that we have some new members who have stepped forward to take up officer roles and to join our committee. That’s really encouraging as any club including ours couldn’t function without members willing to contribute to our ongoing success.”
