An appeal has been launched to find the owner of a tabby cat that took a tour of Cambridgeshire when she climbed into the back of a works van.

The ginger and white cat was found by the van driver after he had finished his shift as a windscreen repair technician.

It is believed the tabby cat could have climbed in the van at any time during the driver’s stops at March, Wisbech, Chatteris, Cambridge, Peterborough and Ipswich on Saturday (June 30).

After the driver discovered the cat he took her to Best Friends Veterinary Practice in Chatteris, where she currently is while the hunt continues for her owner.

Denise Woodley, receptionist at the practice, is now keen to reunite the travelling cat – who is not microchipped and aged from three to five years – with her owners.

She said: “The driver of the van brought her to us to check if she had a microchip to identify her owner, but unfortunately she hasn’t which is making our job a little tricky.

“We are posting to Facebook community groups in these areas and want to spread the word as far as possible as we’re sure her owners must be very worried and missing her.”
