Mr Moore has applied to Fenland District Council for permission to erect a temporary 40 metre meteorological mast to see if his land is suited for wind turbines.

The mast would, if permission is given, be put up for six months at land off Creek Road “to allow for wind readings to assess the potential suitability” for wind turbines.

A design and access statement accompanying the application to the council says the site is currently occupied by Richard Moore Engineering with surplus space sub let to other businesses.

Mr Moore says wind monitoring masts are an ‘off the shelf’ product with limited design options and he has offered to fit bird diverter discs if the council feels there is a risk of bird collisions with the mast’s guy wires.
