The afternoon tea party was a thank you from the hospital to the ‘Friends’ for their hard work and dedication, hosted by hospital support manager Carla Stevens and Sister Tania Wingfield, both from the Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust Outpatient Department.

Local branches of the ‘Friends’ including Doddington (who also co-ordinate the Friends shop), March, Manea and the Benwick/Chatteris branches fundraise to purchase, either collectively or from their own branch, essential equipment including a new theatre light for the Doddington Hospital Outpatient Department.

Carla Stevens said: “The friends provide year in and year out support to the hospital with their continuous fundraising and donations, it is tremendous support from such dedicated people, and the hospital would be truly lost without them.”

June Bevis from the March Branch, said: “It is very rewarding to walk around the hospital and see the items purchased by the groups in use and adding value to patient’s experience when visiting the hospital. This is what the Friends of Doddington Hospital is all about, helping to keep the hospital open and serving the community.”

The Friends Committees are always welcoming new members, and also volunteers to serve in The Friends shop. If you would like to be join them, please contact Carla Stevens on 01354 644209.
