AN unemployed teenager caught smoking a joint of cannabis in his car has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
A member of the public alerted police after seeing Daniel Robertson smoking the drug, and he handed over half a smoked cigarette containing cannabis.
“He smokes cannabis on a social basis,” solicitor Roger Glazebrook told Fenland magistrates. “He smokes it like some people smoke tobacco.”
Robertson, 18, of High Street, Chatteris, admitted possessing cannabis on July 20. He was given 40 hours of work for the offence. He also admitted breaching the terms of his previous 200-hour work order, and the court added an extra 14 hours of work to that sentence.
