A DRUNKEN teenager who smashed two brick walls and a couple of fence panels had arrived in the UK just two weeks before he wreaked havoc along a March street in the early hours.
Teenager Janis Strazdins, 18, of Eastwood Avenue, March, admitted three charge of causing criminal damage when he appeared at Wisbech courthouse.
“It was just after 1am when residents saw four men walking down the road, one was kicking out at walls, and the police were called,” Fenland magistrates heard from prosecutor Emma Duckett.
He caused �200 to one demolished brick wall, and around �20 worth of damage to a second wall, where a row of bricks was removed. Two broken fence panels will cost another �20 to repair.
“He remembered hitting a wall, and it collapsed,” said Ms Duckett. “He could not remember any further damage, but when shown photographs he accepted responsibility.”
Strazdins was told by presiding magistrate Susan Morris: “This behaviour will not be tolerated.” He was ordered to pay �240 compensation, carry out 40 hours of unpaid work, and pay �85 costs.
