YOUNG People March successfully delivered a three-week work skills course for young people aged 16-18.

The centre, in City Road, worked with Distinctive Training, a company delivering government courses for young people who are not in education, employment or training.

The course enabled the young people to gain a BTEC work skills certificate level 1 qualification. Sixteen people started the course and 13 of them completed it.

Sarah Brown, YPM manager, said: “YPM is very proud to have been able to give these young people this opportunity as this is a nationally recognised qualification.

“Delivering this course shows the commitment to YPM’s mission statement, which is to provide young people with positive outcomes.

“I would like to congratulate and say how impressed I was with all the young people who attended as most of them had literally walked out of education and back into another classroom. Their commitment was 100 per cent and attitudes and behaviours where very positive.

“The project will continue and develop for the future as so many young people are in need of this knowledge and skills with the ever changing social climate.”
